Network contractions sum to branch polynomial
Statement (paper)
The element of inside in equals the sum, over the arrays (bipartite networks) indexing the monomials of , of the contractions of these bipartite networks. Here a test-group entry is in , and a variable-group entry is .
In plain English
The element of inside in the branch residue formula equals the sum, over the arrays indexing the monomials of , of the contractions of the corresponding bipartite networks. A test-group entry is , and a variable-group entry is .
Why it's here
This identifies the branch count modulo with a sum of tensor-network contractions. It does so by reading each incidence monomial of the multilinear polynomial as a bipartite network, with wires from the monomial-indexing claim, test groups on one side and variable groups on the other. The next claims can then compute the entries and apply the contraction theorem to this sum.
Classified routine:
Direct bookkeeping expansion of the multilinear product F over its incidence monomials, regrouped as bipartite network contractions using the indexing from the previous claims; the variable-group sum identity is an elementary calculation.
